Over the last couple of months the Nuchallenger podcast launched, where I tackle race and inevitably gender issues in video games and other pop-culture at large. Check it out!
Hello everyone, after a long and stressful month doing crowdfunding, our first ever, we will be bringing Treachery in Beatdown City BACK to Kickstarter.
Details here, but the long and short of it is we learned a great deal about communication, and had a lot of articles written about the game during the campaign. We also had a lot of good things said about it at GDC, the Game Developers Conference, this past week.
Also, at PAX East we will be demoing the game, to not only get exposure for the awesome brawler mechanics, but also the diverse & socially conscious dialog and characters. I will also be speaking on a Panel. Details are below.
Despite buying the game on the day of release, I didn’t get to put too much time into Bayonetta as I was obsessed with Darksiders and then Super Street Fighter ate my time along with work. I just recently picked it back up and I’m having a lot pure, outright fun.
Now everything isn’t perfect as the game likes to keep throwing out batshit insane mythos babble like it’s going out of style, but I enjoy that babble for what it is, a fun and wacky ride through mangled Christian mythos with a very slight serious undertone. The game also suffers from a case of throwing out too many action sequences that are just to be watched and usually far and away over the top from what you can actually do to the point where I keep expecting to be able to play the game, getting disappointed every time. But when the cutscenes aren’t playing and I am, I am having a fucking blast, which makes up for the time spent waiting for a cutscene to end. Continue reading
What better way to reboot this site (which has had some identity issues in the past) than with my return to E3 after 7 long years… and my what an E3 it is shaping up to be. We have two competing motion devices, a whole slew of new amazing looking games, and a seemingly unending amount of possibility for surprise…. and I’ll finally be back in the LA Convention Center to try it all out!
But, as I promised myself I will keep the theme of this site to being about what matters most to me, looking at gameplay for what it is and not focusing on keeping up with the Jones’… Maybe I’ll just leave the one off trendy negative remarks to my twitter…
