All of this variety keeps a game that could otherwise have dwindled into monotonous repetition feeling very fresh and is expertly peppered in.
Great narrative driven by voice over and comic book panels: The story in Renegade Ops is told by your commanding officer Bryant in conjunction with some really well done Shank-like comic book panels placed over gameplay. This all works so well to not rip the player out of the game but also provides a different aesthetic from the rich, very realistic looking graphics and adds a certain flair to everything.
Again, not a gameplay feature per say, but the way the story plays out without always going full screen every few steps to rip the player out of what he was just playing has more impact on the flow than many game devs seem to understand. The guys at Klei got it, and so did Avalanche.
